I love giving gift baskets. One that I like to make up is a Christmas Morning Breakfast one....with maple syrup, pancake mix in a jar tied with a pretty ribbon, a small ham, biscuit mix, assorted jellies and coffee or tea. You can also add some juice that comes in one of those fancy bottles. Add a couple mugs and pretty cloth napkins and you have a super gift for a couple or a family!!!

I just found this great website if anyone gives giftbaskets out at christmas time! It is from Canada, but I love that it gives you a list of stuff that is in each basket, so that gives me some ideas for the basket that I make!

I have given gift baskets before. On year I made a dry soup mix placed it in a canning jar, and placed the jar and 4 soup mugs in a basket.
Last year I made "gift bags" for all the kids in the families that we deliver holiday goodies to. In the bag was a Christmas mug with hot chocolate mix in it and candy to stir it with. The kids loved them.
Not sure about this year. I'll have to check out that website.

I love putting together gifts baskets.
A favorite is pasta dinner (package of pasta, a jar of sauce, cheese, herbs etc) including a recipe.
Last year I made one with sauces for various stir-fries and included a recipe for each sauce
I also gave one with ingredients to put together some appetizers for unexpected visitors
I make lots of jams in summer so I always have those to give
And this year I made elderblossom and elderberry syrup to give to anybody who visits me during the season.

This year I really want to make gift baskets for friends that I don't usually buy for. Probably between 5-10 of them, but I don't want to get too expensive with it. Just something from the heart. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Go to the dollar store you can always find great stuff there. I some times if I am doing a not to expensive one get towel and placemats, napkins etc from the dollar store.
You could also make a baking basket, and make some cookies and put ingredients with recipes in the basket.

We're doing gift baskets of some of the things we've made or canned this year. We did this last year as well. Last year we did some baskets with peach jam, apple butter, apple sauce, hot cocoa mix and chai latte mix. For my husband's father we did the peach jam apple butter, applesauce, bread and butter pickles, piccalilli and pickled beats as he doesn't drink cocoa or chai.
This year so far we've made some peach jam. We're going to go apple picking and make the apple butter again and apple sauce. We were thinking about peppermint bark and a jar brownie mix as well.

In my advent calander you gave me last year was a lovely book with idears how to gift wrap recepies. It gave idears like: the flower, spices and cookie cutter in a jar with the recepie in it. Or a jar full of home made cookies with the recipe. I just LOVED that one and have given a few jars already!

I forgot all about that book, I can't even remember all the stuff that I put in the advent calendar last year. Glad that you are enjoying the book and all the other stuff.

I fixed a basket for my mom on her birthday and I put a blouse, favorite candy, those search word books, pens, and she loves to crochet so I put a bunch of thread in it, a bag of popcorn these are things she loves. This also saves her money for other things. She said she loves getting a basket like that. If you are doing one for an older person you could also put a gift card from a grocery store, or stamps if you know they mail there bills off or mail cards out. Little things like that saves them money and they can use it for something else.

DD1 gift wrapped for me 2 batches of cookie recipes in a jar. She did this from her heart & that meant so much to me. I thought my, what a neat idea to do. Just pack inside a quart jar all the ingredients in layers from a recipe then put a small tiny ornament & ribbon on it.

My family and I did something similar to that in our gift baskets we gave to family and friends this year. I have a recipe book just for jar gifts like that. It was a wonderful blonde brownie recipe. We also put in homemade hot cocoa, chai latte tea mix, apple sauce, apple butter, and peach jam that we canned ourselves. We customized a couple of the baskets such as for my husband's father who doesn't drink cocoa or chai we gave him coffee and some bread and butter pickles, pickled beets and dill pickles that we canned.

Commomom and Noelle, the recepie book of cookie in a jar is wonderfull indeed. I got one a fwe years ago, i think MC gave it with the ornament exchange or LIU, and have given some as a present when i went to a diner party. It was something new here so that was a great gift.
