I'm not sure what we're doing. The church opposite have a carols round the tree service late afternoon, I might take the kids to that. The day will probably be doing some last minute shopping. But I have to see It's A Wonderful Life on DVD.

Christmas Eve.....usually hubby and I take the kids out for a ride to see all the Christmas lights, come home have cookies, hot cocoa, open 1 gift and watch a movie. Then before the kids go to bed we put together a plate for Santa & his reindeer, a glass of milk or eggnog and a cup of coffee.

But this year there is hardly anyone who has decorated around here. So we will probrally just watch a movie or 2, have some cookies and hot cocoa. Don't have enough gifts to open 1 on Christmas Eve...so we will skip that this year as well. Then of course the plate of cookies and milk/eggnog (if the kids remember about the coffee then we will do it...if not, then I won't). The coffee thing their father started, saying Santa may want a pick me up & something warm after all the milk he gets from everyone else....the kids bought it, LOL

We go to my aunts house on christmas eve (my dad's side of the family)...It's my grandma's birthday, so we always have celebrated christmas eve...My grandma always made oyster stew....I'm not sure if they will make it this year or not (my grandma's health isn't very good)....We eat dinner and open presents....Then we will come home and get the kids ready for bed, put out things for santa, and then after they are asleep I get all the santa things out and fill stockings and watch it's a wonderful life.

Hopefully have everything possible fixed before Christmas Eve. Go to 'Midnite' mass early, like about 6;30PM, I don't think we are having Midnite Mass this year, but if we do, then I may go to that.

The kids are all coming over for Christmas Eve, It will be sort of a family open house. One son will come about 10, when he gets off work and one daughter will get in about midnite. The other 2 will come earlier.
but we will be having fingerfoods and all the goodies on the table all night long. I will have ham fixed and a few other dishes. Plenty to drink. I am also the only Eggnog Drinker!!!! But there will be the Christmas Punch!

We don't have any young kids in our families anymore. The youngest is 15. So there is no little ones for toys etc. The teens get bored until they can get home and play their electronic games. My Tv probably isn't up to date for all the latest stuff. Mostly we will be playing the evening by ear.......someone coming and going all night long!!!

We will be spending the day and evening with my grandmother. Unfortunately I will have to log into work that morning and take care of a things for a few hours but Goldie and her family will head on over earlier. Then around noon or so Tom and I will go over. Goldie and I plan on cooking so maybe Goldie will have it all done by the time I get there, hehehe. Nah, I am just joking. I really want to be there with her.

When we do get home that night I know we will spend it watching Christmas movies and see who can out talk each other!

Hosting what has become a little annual Christmas Eve tradition. We have anyone in that wants to stop by and then just spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the excitement of the day. :c58:

I guess I always end up visiting the stores one last time even If I don't need anything. It feels good to know I don't have to buy anything at that point. Christmas Eve night I will stop by the graveyard, leave a small lighted tree at my Mothers grave to keep her in our traditions then it's off to Church at 7PM. Last year I went to Church at 11PM as well, I haven't decided yet although it was a nice service. If not I may pop my new copy of the original Miracle on 34th street into the DVD player & relax. :)

I will get up early to finish last minute cooking, then my dad will pick the kids up around one. After I get done with everything we head over to my parents and have a big dinner, after we are done we open gifts, this takes forever since there are 17 kids in the family. When gifts are finished we will eat desert while tracking Santa on the internet. We will head home late, as always, to get the kids in bed for Santa. Last year we set everything up before we left, we had our neighbor come over and turn the tree lights on and leave the door open a tiny crack so that the kids would know someone had been in the house. We had my husband go in first to make sure everything was okay and when we got inside Santa had already came!! It was after twelve when we got home so the kids were thrilled. We didn't get in bed until around three a.m. but it was well worth it, and I got to sleep in Christmas day!! Don't know if we will do that this year or not. We should probably make up our minds since we only have days now!!

When I lived in the city, I used to like to get out one last time, after I had all my shopping done. It just made me feel Christmasy and knowing everything was done. Sometimes I even got last minute bargains for the next year.

hmm, I think I will prep a few things on Christmas Eve.
Usually between breakfast and dinner we just snack on stuff, so I can make up meat, cheese & veggie platter and make deviled eggs, make tuna & egg salad for either small sandwiches or for crackers, also prep a couple things for the stuffing. That way I can just sit back and enjoy the day instead of spending it in the kitchen.

We will drive around and look at lights, have a nice little dinner, open 1 present each and call my family on the East coast since they open their presents on Christmas Eve.

Christmas eve celebration has changed dramatically since living in Florida. When I lived in Maryland it was the greatest celebration with my 3 daughters, their husbands and my wonderful 8 grandchildren visiting. Everyone came to my house for a Christmas dinner and unwrapping of the gifts. Christmas music was playing non-stop the entire time. It was so much fun and love to relive those unforgettable days.
It's different now with Sonny and I living in Florida and our family living back in the north east.
But Christmas eve is wonderful with Sonny and I...his mom living only 10 minutes from us and I will go there to have dinner with her and 2 of Sonny's cousins visiting from Pa.
Sonny will be working Christmas eve until 10:30pm. When he arrives home, we unwrap our gifts to each other by our fireplace usually with a Christmas movie on tv...seems to me, it's always been A Christmas Carol.. We have a drink together and enjoy the peace and quiet. At midnight, we turn on midnight mass in Rome and then turn in to bed. It's such a wonderful time...I love the feeling of Christmas Eve more than I do Christmas Day

try out some new recipes on the kids that day so when hubby comes back you will have some new dishes you will think he likes. I used to do that to my kids when hubby was deployed for the Holidays and we would have a second Christmas when he came home with new recipes with the old ones.

Chrismtas Eve we are going to church as the kids are singing in the childrens choir that a friend has going. They will practice Monday and Tuesday night then on Wednesday we hear them sing.

Then after that we will come home and depending on the time either the kids will go to bed or stay up till 9pm. Then around 11 the hubby and I will play Santa then go to bed.

LOL. I did that during R&R back in June. He loved the recipes I found and did! The kids only liked one but their tastebuds are still very sensitive at 6 & 7 so it is understandable.
I just might try to find something else to do.

I'm excited, because we found out, yesterday, my Uncle will be home for Christmas and he will bring Grandma and come up to our Christmas Eve afternoon party. We've finalized the menu and so it's not going to be a tough thing to put together and we can enjoy everyone's company, too.

I think Christmas Eve is always a ton of fun...the anticipation has never dwindled for me. I guess if I had to choose, Christmas Eve would also be my favorite, for all the fun and anticipation of that day. :c39:
