I have been looking for a new Christmas tree this year. I want a 9 foot tree, but don't want the slim tree. And the tree I am looking at doesn't come in 'slim' anyway. My problem is I found the perfect tree, but the lower branches extend too far into the room.
The same tree comes in 7.5 height with the perfect circumferance at the bottom. It is prelit tree with the steel hangers. This sounds heavy. I was thinking about buying this 7.5 tree instead and building a plywood box to put the tree on to make it 9 foot. Or even a 10 inch high box would workd for me.( My ceilings are 10 foot).
This sounds like it would work. But has anyone on the list done this? I am concerned about the tree toppling over etc. It will be in my bay window and I don't want any broken windows or ornies for that matter. We don't have any small children, so that would not be a problem.
I just wondered how this idea might work. I would like to 'screw' the tree stand to the plywood box, but don't know if the tree stand will be built to allow this or not.
Please let me know your ideas' or expieriences.
