Anyone have one of these. Where there's something special each day you open a new box or something?
These are handy and not to mention will help you countdown to the big day. Sometimes I like to slip reminder notes on certaind days just so i know i have to do something that day.

Well I have seen the ones where you get chocolate every day, but Im not too big on that. I have a small paper one that Ive had for years with elves on it, and it has a little rhyme under each flap. Although I would love to have one like shown in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, the wooden box one.

I would love to build a huge one for the front yard and have a saying under each flap. Good project for next year. I will have to put that on my index cards for next year.

I never had an advent calendar till last year. I think they were talking about it on the xmas place and my mom said that is what I was missing. Any way I went and bought me one and then I received several as Christmas presents. Now I have one for each room of the house. Some how I got jipped though cause none of them had chocolate in them. I am going to make me one for the front yard. With 25 sayings on them. Guess what the 25 th is going to say?

I had one my ex mother in law made for me, you open a flap each day and read the sentiment. I really liked it, so the ex got it.

I found an Advent page for kids. It's a picture of Santa's face with 24 circles on it. You put a cotton ball on it, one every day until Christmas Eve. I remember doing that one year with a 7-up promo poster. My daughter will be 2 years old this Christmas and I think she'll enjoy it. Google "kids advent calendar"and I'm sure you can find it.

Havn't found an outdoor one but I just had an idea for a Christmas craft project. I love the beautiful Advent calendars that the import stores sell with the old world village pictures and the glitter. I was thinking it would be nice to glue it onto a plastic tray and either varnish it or put a sheet of hard plastic over it it to allow the glitter to still sparkle.
I haven't had a Christmas party in a few years but I think I'm going to plan one for this year, I've got to do something with these trays.

I'm saving that one. Do you start with one, I guess, or do you count down to one?

it depends for how many people this calendar is..
if no4´s is no.1 on the list to open no.1 he can open no.1, if not he´s no.2 on the list you can say that no4 is the no.1 to open no. 2 (because someone else was no.1 to open no.1) and if they share the calendar with three people you can have this:
no4 can be no.1 to open no.1 or no.2 or no.3
I´m very happy to put it straight for you ERV

I some of you get the Terry's Village catalog. They have a really nice one in there that's shaped like a chimney and Santa sits in the chimney and each day you pull out a little piece and Santa goes a little farther down the chimney.

That is adorable! :c39: When I was a kid, my Grandma and Granddad gave us an Advent calendar every year, at Thanksgiving.....kind of a kick-off to the holiday season. I continued the tradition, after they could no longer afford the tradition, but I don't think there are as many choices as there was, back then. I received a Rudolph and Hermey Advent calendar, a few years ago, I love it. The only thing was, it didn't come with enough numbered tiles, so we made our own! ^)
