:) Let's Play a getting to know you game.
Have you ever?
This is similar to a game called Ask and Answer.
i.e.
Have you ever participated in a Christmas pageant or school play?
Yes - give a few details, then ask a new Have you ever question
i.e.
Have you ever played a musical instrument in a school band?
If you see a question you want to respond to you can use the person's username or the up arrow ^ on your keyboard ^^^ would be for a question asked three posts ago. You can reply to a question you missed and still answer the present question, but don't forget to ask a new "have you ever" so the game can continue.
:D Let's play!

Have you ever been in a boys or girls club - like Brownies, Scouts, Pathfinders, etc?
Next person answers my question and asks a new one.

Have you ever been to a Christmas concert?
Yes iv,e been to a Christmas concert, and at the age of about 9 i had to play a violin solo at the school Christmas concert which i'm sure you can understand is not easy with hooves. Anyway, my time came to walk to the centre of the stage and after months of practice i was ready to do my rendition of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"
All started well as i made my way down the music, in fact so well that i had a glance from the page to see my parents giving me that knowing look of encouragement from the audience, what could go wrong now?
A quick smile back i thought, then back to the page. As i looked back at the music i couldn't find where i was suposed to be and the harder i looked the more the notes seemed to jump up and down on the page to confuse me. At this point with an anxious look at my parents i descended into only what can be described as a free form jazz rendition, mainly because it didn't sound anything like the music on the page. What seemed like an age later but could only have been a few seconds, i brought the tune to an end. To my suprise a few people started to clap led by my parents, until the whole hall clapped. I walked off the stage that night head slightly bowed, and to this day haven't picked up the violin again. :(
Have you ever reached across the Christmas day table to get something and knocked the wine over everyones food

The Yak
07-29-2007, 01:59 PM
Yak..I loved your violin story. Maybe you should pick it back up again because you sound like a natural talent adding all that jazz.
To answer the question: Yes, years ago when the kids were little, our house was the place our family celebrated Christmas. I cherish those memories.
Have you ever been in a Christmas play?
Just to finish the story and put it to bed, i decided to give it up, my parents heard of a young girl at our school that wanted to learn violin but couldn't afford to by an instrument so we passed it on. I think my parents may have had an ulterior motive, believe me i was no loss to the music world, don't worry!!.
I did apear in the Christmas play a few years later as one of Herods Roman guards, i guess they worked out that i couldn't ruin that. It wasn't Star billing, but hey all the cogs need to work for the engine to move.

A raincoat. I knew the fella who gave it to me just picked it up on his way past the dollar bin at Wal-Mart, so no thought went into it. I honestly didn't know what to say. It was kinda like someone you hardly know giving you a dust pan. I'd be lying if I said, "Thanks."

Have you ever seen a Johnny Bravo's Christmas
Auntie Mistletoe
09-01-2007, 01:30 PM
Viper asked:
Have you ever seen a Johnny Bravo's Christmas?
No, but I watched Johnny Bravo a few times - back in the day.
I recently heard a 14 year old say, "back in the day" referring to when he was five years old. I said, "you can't say back in the day that makes me waaaaaaaay too old".
A few other replies . . .
Viper asked:
Have you ever thought a gift was one thing but opened to find it was something completely different?
Yes, when I thought I was getting an ironing board and it was a guitar - that was a good surprise though.
Pattyjo asked:
Have you ever been blue on christmas day?
Yes. I can't explain it, but it didn't feel like Christmas except for the tree and presents. The conversation didn't have much to do with Christmas. The atmosphere wasn't as festive as usual and I didn't even feel the same sort of excitement on Christmas Eve.
It only happened that one time, thankfully, but I'm still quite puzzled by it.
Twinkle asked:
Have you ever served at a soup kitchen on Christmas?
No, but I helped with deliveries for the Santa Fund one year.
~ Have you ever destroyed Christmas dinner? Burnt the buns, burnt the bird, forgot about the taters, etc?

Have you ever had to run out at the last minute and get a Christmas gift..say late on Christmas eve just before that last store closes?
Auntie Mistletoe
09-02-2007, 10:29 AM
Sort of. I shopped on Christmas Eve a few times when I was in my teens, once I had to run out to get another roll of Scotch Tape for my brother to wrap the gifts he brought with him. I didn't feel pressured though, it actually helped prepare my mood for the evening.
My dad had to dash out last minute to fetch something for me. Good ol' dad!

know just the person who would want it.
Did you ever accidentally find out what you were getting from someone before Christmas?
Auntie Mistletoe
09-07-2007, 07:24 PM
:c38: Yes - and no . . . it was by accident I wasn't snooping.
I was looking in my mom's closet to check the size of her clothes because I wasn't sure exactly what size she was wearing and I didn't want to ask or she'd get a good hint of what she was getting for Christmas. In the bottom of the closet was an ironing board in a box. I was planning on heading off to College the following year. Trust me - an ironing board was not on my wish list. I was glad I came across it because I think I would have had trouble making a "happy thank you face" if I didn't have time to practice.
It was funny because I had practiced my "jolly face" and when I was opening my gift I said, "it's shaped like an ironing board", but when I opened it - I was very excited to discover a guitar case with a guitar inside.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/Year%20Round%20Holiday%20Pictures/TheKingGroove.gif Of course, she got a genuine "jolly face".
Alas, the ironing board was for my brother who had moved out on his own two months earlier. Doubt it was on his list either. A mother knows just like Santa what special gifts children need even if they don't realize it.
I'm so glad I got the guitar.
:c39: Have you ever done anything unusual to celebrate Christmas - like going to Disney World or on a cruise instead of celebrating at home?

Have you evet not liked a christmas present?
Snowflake
09-08-2007, 02:00 AM
yes, I have made a plum pudding, I now make one every year. At least the recipe says it is a plum pudding. I think it is more of a rum plum pudding. LOL
I also had a really old recipe that was a plum pudding and you put an 'silver item' in the pudding like a charm etc, and who gets it is to have good luck. but I made it and no one really like it that much and I did not put the charm in for fear of someone choking on it or something!!! This was many years ago. I should see if I still have that recipe! Who knows maybe our taste buds have changed.
