Today, I finished up on the batch of gingerbread cookies. It was fun but time consuming. Has anyone else made gingerbread boy cookies?http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a289/Lizilu2/christmasgingerbreadboys12-13-07.jpg

I usually make them every year, so far I haven't made any this year. I don't know if I will or not. It is so time consuming. And the kids are all teens now.

Are they more time consuming than baking regular cookies?

My recipe makes quite a few. It is an old recipe - now. I remember cutting the recipe out of a mag. it was used by girl scouts from Orange or Orange Co NJ. I really liked the flavor of these, I think they had 'orange zest' in them, then the fact that it made so many - at that time my kids were all home etc.
But it does take time to roll the dough and cut out the cookies and bake each pan. Then decorate them. I usually pack them straight to the freezer, so they don't dry out, unless I am giving them to the grandkids at the time.
I don't have a lot of patience for cut out cookies anymore, and I do love to eat them.

#4son..I believe cutout cookies like gingerbread boys are far more time consuming because of the decorating. Regular cut-out cookies are no more time consuming that most other recipes I think. I guess the easiest cookies are the drop by tablespoon onto cookie sheet and bake.:c11:

Have you tried the "already made and in a bag" variety? You can't beat that for easy!
